This paper analyzes the homophile canon of the couple and of the ideal friend in Germany at the beginning of the years 1950. It examines first the implicit model of couple conveyed by the texts and the images of the principal homophiles journals of that time. This model,based on principles of reserve and respectability, is then considered in the light of a vast sample of small ads published during the same years. It appears eventually that the homophile cultural canon answers multiple and diversified relational requirements, in providing a code of effective expression to them.
